Sierra Is Home And Ready To Roll

ADVENTURE LOCATION:

DECATUR, ALABAMA

POINT MALLARD PARK

DATE: SEPTEMBER 5, 2024

ROLLING DATE: Soon

Good evening. It was a good day in spite of the OFM messing around where he did not need to be. Enough said about that. But what is important is the call the truck was finished and ready to be delivered to us.

The dealer fellow, Charles, who hauls folks like the OFM to and from the dealer showed up right on time and as usual was a nice fellow to visit with first thing in the morning. Today he told us about the place he likes to eat lunch at of the meal deal day of the week. He makes it sound good. When the OFM can recall the place name he will tell us.

Any way Sierra was waiting and the service writer gave us the five minute tour of what all they did to the truck and it was a lot. The new transmission price was about $4500 alone in the box. He also told the OFM about some steering linkage that was getting worn as well as a badly cracked motor mount. I had previously agreed that they should look over the engine area and anything needing repair should be done without even calling me about it, The service writer turned out to have a very good idea of desert items you do not want to break out in nowhere land. It turns out three parts of the steering linkage had worn rubber doohickeys to stabilize the linkage that had been taken off to access the transmission so all we had to pay for was the part because reinstalling them was part of the tranny cost. They were definitely worn when the OFM looked them over. And when we drove the truck home it handled incredibly better than it had been handling. So we feel the dealer shop did us right on doing what was needed, telling the OFM the items to watch for in the next couple of years. All told we wrote the check to them for a bit under $8000. The new re-manufactured tranny came with a three year 100,000 mile full warranty good any where in the USA at a GM dealer. This leaves us with a goal of reworking all the travel time and grand kid events into a plan going through January.

We are hopeful this can fit rolling time and grand kid time into nicely meshing activities. Good night readers and dream great dreams.
