LIFE IMPROVES

 5/31/25

Good evening. I am still having computer troubles. My move into Heritage assisted living in Madison Alabama has gone well. I am still getting set up but healing the doctor thinks. This will be a multimonth healing the doc feels. I thank everyone for the comments and good wishes. I have had a support crew that is much better than fantastic. The blog will continue but RVing in the Castle is over. Towing is not in my ability anymore. How ever I plan to find a way to continue to get outside to play.

In the meantime I hope to get set up to soon participate in productive stories by one method or another. I also will later attempt to relate what happened to me that day I passed out on a Texas state park road and woke up in a Texas hospital with no idea of what happened. Think internal body infection. All signs are pointing to an internal body infection of some sort at this time. It has definitely been bad. See you soon.

NEW LIFE STARTING TODAY

This morning I finally got in the computer after a long episode dealing in difficulties for a lot of weeks of hospitals etc. This morning I am being checked into an assisted living facility near my son in north ALABAMA near Madison. No wreck or damage to me from impact or anything like that but but the recovery time predicted is several months. Likely total recovery is about 95% in my opinion. Looking forward to once again being able to participate in the fun.

NEW LIFESTYLE COMING WE THINK.

FULTON, TEXAS

We have been trying to revise our blog style for some time due to aging and attitude and just want to. Since tonight is the last night of doing several of our travel things the same way for the last 19 years we decided to start our new effort on this approximate birthday of the blog starting way back then. We do not have a particular plan yet but do feel the need for some new things and styles to happen.

For example we have plans to do some trips by way of moteling along the way when it seems like a better way. On the other hand we want to reserve more time for connecting better with what little family the OFM has left in this world.

In the past if it did not involve RVing it had to wait. We hope that we can make our new lifestyle much more much more versatile at pleasing our readers. We are pretty certain our readers would be happy to provide suggestions in the comments section. One thing for certain is this old body has taken a lot of physical abilities he used to have and waved goodbye to them at my current age of 78.9 years old.  Suggestions would be very welcome.

BOONDOCKING RIG REQUIREMENTS DISCUSSION

FULTON, TEXAS

The discussion this evening was about what does a rig need for boondocking the most. Well several folks had strong opinions like pretty scenery or many other opinions. Lots of opinions came to the front but one thing kept popping up during the discussion. The OFM proposed his opinion  and got a few giggles behind things like good food and nice weather.

Our choice is still large holding tanks. Many giggles showed up  with that one.

Please explain was the request from several of the group.

Run out of fresh water tankage and you will be heading for fresh water in a few minutes . Yep they agreed.

Run out of gray water space and some locations will fine the dickens out of you for the gray water dumped on the ground.

And run out of black tank room and every one around you will be kicking you out of the area.

Most thought that four to six days of fresh tankage is plenty.  We have a different opinion as usual. We have TWENTY THREE days of fresh water tankage in the Castle.

So no matter how much of what you have we feel that the real limit on your boondocking is your fresh water supply when boondocking.

As you can see this is not a an easy judgement to make so please be careful not to get your self in a serious position when out boondocking.

Plans Finally Coming Together Maybe

 FULTON, TEXAS

It has been a long hard plan to bring to fruition but we feel we finally have a plan for the next few years. For the last several months the OFM has been working on getting suggestions from many friends, blog readers and anybody willing to help plan the senior life we have ahead of us. According to statistics the OFM has about eight more years to use for fun and travels. Well here we go getting with it.

We start with this planned startup trip back to see the grand kids and other relatives this summer just like in the past. But his year the end of summer will have a more planned layout of toooo much fun. You will see what I mean soon.

Back to today,

Our next trip to grand kid land starts tomorrow.

However the grands and family have two weeks of European travel scheduled for their first summer adventure.

Then when they get back they are doing professional theater performances for the rest of the summer. This should be an exciting summer for them.

So what is happening with the OFM.

Well he is headed to Alabama to establish a travel home base location for easier to coordination with other family members.

Sort of like the new travel plan he starts May 11. Over the next few days we will be herding the Castle to its new home in Decatur Alabama at the Point Mallard Campground from which we will be better able to take shorter out and back trips with the family.

At this time the first trip back to Alabama should happen while the family is in Europe. The site for the Castle was rented about two weeks ago and is waiting for the Castle to arrive. It will be our eastern base for a bit. Our trip with the Castle starts May12. What will the OFM be doing this summer? Getting older he hopes. He is 78.8 years now.

That is enough for now. As you can see things are getting exciting, Good Night.

BUNCH OF MAYBES

FULTON, TEXAS

As usual these days the insects are trying to control everything. The biting and stinging is getting tiresome but we will eventually win. We now have new travel plans developing and we will be glad to get it all in place and executed. We now know we will plan to not return here next year.  The crowding per square foot is not our idea of the best fun and is getting worse very quickly So we are already searching our souls for more comfortable locations in this warmer winter weather area of Southern USA.

We also made arrangements to start our back to Alabama trip for the summer in about 5 days.

And that is about all the fun we found in the hordes of skeeters. Good Night.

FIGHTING BITING BUGS

 GOOSE ISLAND STATE PARK

FULTON TEXAS

This has been a getting ready day and fighting biting bugs. It has definitely not been a fun day at the park.  In fact the state park has been mostly a misery lately. In fact we hope to get rolling tomorrow inland and away from the saltwater marshes surrounding us here. At least Walmart has been good shopping.

We have high hopes all the equipment is in great rolling shape. The only plan for now is to roll safely to Point Mallard Alabama where we have a paid for site waiting for us. Sorry about all the negativity but in over fifty years of coming here this is by far the worst time we have had to put up with insect wise. Be safe and have fun wherever you are.

OCCASIONAL MOMENTARY INTERNET SERVICE

 ROCKPORT, TEXAS

5/6/2025

We are still alive but getting internet to function is another story. Be assured we are alive and well. The signal here at the campground has been intermittent at best. Internet reporting activity will resume when we are able. Thanks for the patience. OFM.

FIRST TWO DAYS AT THE STATE PARK

 ROCKPORT, TEXAS

5/3/25

We ran out of daylight yesterday so we carried on like  it was just one long day but it was almost two days of doing things to get set up for a two week stay before heading north.

When we arrived here yesterday we took a bunch of time in choosing the campsite so we had room for changing plans if needed.

Looking from the road this is the chosen resting spot for the two week stay. It is roomy and flat.

The table side to the left in the picture is very large just in case we need room to get frisky with something. Next is a picture looking into the cleared area surrounding the table for privacy.

The next photo is the good salad we had for supper tonight. It was two meats, cheese, multiple salad pieces, boiled egg and a couple other items.

Then about 1400 today we had a nice beach scene while we were meandering around,

Then tonight we had another exceptional sunset right at the crack of dark.

How is that for a nice closing photo?

Have a great night.

TRAVEL AND TROUBLES

 ROCKPORT, TEXAS

5/1/25

We got a good start this morning and got to the new site before lunch, checked in at GOOSE ISLAND STATE PARK by 10am. Before lunch we were mostly set up. But the campground water lines started leaking here and there all over the area and the fun began. It is dark thirty now and the skeeters are hungry down here in this saltwater marsh. But we are set up enough to make it to tomorrow inside the rig. Hopefully other equipment will be here early tomorrow and they can get us reliable drinking water flowing. At least tonight we can keep the skeeters off of us. Several photos were taken today but the OFM is too pooped to play any more tonight. At least we feel good enough to get back at it tomorrow. Be safe and sleep well.

We will.
