The walk today had several items of interest along the way. Tonight we get a few of them to enjoy. The trail start was a good example of the weather. It was a hint hazy, a hint cool, a hint of breeze and a bit dryer than usual. Really nice in other words. Here we have the first view of the water as we get down to the trail.
Before very far along the trail it was evident several trees were working on falling this winter. The vegetation being gone gives us a much better view of the tree structure. This tree is already busted loose from the remaining tree trunk but the limbs of the trees around it are holding it up in place. We think a good winter norther wind will take it down.
We were really surprised at the quantity of trees that seem like they will be coming down this winter during wind storms. But at the same time there are hundreds of 2-4 foot trees showing in the open brush areas so nature looks like it is working alright.
Back on the trail for a bit we hit this marker for the first time in several weeks and it means the OFM body is back up to doing reasonable mileages again after all that locked up because of the freezing weather. We like to stay somewhat aerobically fit at our ANCIENT age of 76.
We did notice that the two trees along the trail that had been adorned with Christmas decorations still have most of them still on the tree.
Some of the ornaments are really nice and we hope someone who lives in the area saves them for next year.
The OFM is nervous about whether his eyesight is ready for trailer towing or not. We have tested the troublesome right eye in every way we can come up with and it passed adequately as long as it is nice and daylight. The silly 179 day trailer move a week ago proved we could maneuver the trailer fine in the daytime but we have not had an opportunity to check it well in low light situations. But it is time to do some rolling and we intend to go for it. It is a great way of trying to have tooooo much fun.
I am watching the calendar. Will be so glad to know you are rolling down the road.

DeleteI know how important eyesight is when driving a long vehicle. I don't drive at night now. Hopefully, yours improve so you can. Good luck on your journey to Texas.
ReplyDeleteYep decent eyesight and RVing, especially with a giant rig like yours is critical. Be safe and careful. Give Yuma and ear scratch for me.

DeleteOK. I'm gonna have to say another thing about being one-eyed. I could back trailers. You just use your good eye to check the mirrors and look over your shoulder, etc, and make your best guess. I don't see how low light is going to make any difference. ON THE OTHER HAND, if your bad eye is your dominant eye, it's going to be harder. But low light shouldn't matter if you've got good vision in the non-dominant eye. I could be full of it. But that's what it seems like to me. I gather you have a tiny bit of vision in your damaged eye. I have gotten by with a little bit of peripheral vision in my bad eye, This is probably more speech about vision than anybody wants to hear, including you.

ReplyDeletePPS. In spite, I've had a driver's license since I was 14. And my bad eye never ever passes any sort of vision test. My good one does.
