Day After Fun

Date: July 5, 2023

Last night as we were working on the computer after publishing the blog the OFM was suddenly disturbed by a nearby boom like a 10 gauge shotgun. Very shortly after that a huge red ball of a fireworks item seemed burst out from the trees surrounding the campground. After a couple more explosions the OFM realized the fireworks display had started, so he moved his chair to the open door of the Castle and kicked back to take photos and enjoy the show. Well the OFM found out that holding still enough to get good in focus photos were not in his abilities. So here is the best two pics we were able to get. But with the tree limbs in the picture they are still pretty interesting. It was a very good fifteen minute show and they had a few new to us “designs” we found very nice. Here you go with fireworks 1 and 2.

We really enjoyed this show last night.

Today we checked out the park grounds and found them all cleaned up and all the traffic control stuff already gone by mid morning. The water park area is going full blast as evidenced by the huge pile of vehicles over at the parking area about mid day.

The OFM was having a bit of joint difficulty today so we ended up taking three shorter walks with some rest in between them. That worked out well and we got in a bit over three miles total.

Along one of the trails we took was this large tree the storms knocked down two days ago.

What we had not noticed was that two other tree trunks were nearly down also. Both of them are on the far side of the tree in the picture. We guess some sort of mini-twister got them since the damage was contained in a very small area.

Then late this evening we went down to the main drain for the campground to see how well it was draining. Most of the minor flooding was gone and the ditch was at a slow flow but running smoothly.

We think it should be empty by tomorrow morning.

Now we plan on a nice night of good sleep so we can be well rested for trying to have tooooo much fun tomorrow.
