Independence Day Follies

Adventure Location:

Decatur, Alabama

Date: July 4, 2023

The second event of the day was a test of water color pencils against normal colored pencils. We tried each side by side in several scenarios. And in all cases the OFM liked regular colored pencils much better than the watercolor pencils. So the water color pencils have been put away and the regular colored pencils are back to work. The water color pencil are just tooooo much less vibrant for our likes.

Our first event of the early morning was to rework the window that had the new caulk washed out by the storm rains since we did not get enough drying and curing time before the torrential rains slammed us. The job went well and no rain came today so we have hopes it will get to stay in place and cure our troubles with that leak.

The final day gathering for the Independence Day events has been much more calm this year. The sun came out about 1300 today and dried things out quickly. The crowds are large but definitely smaller than the years when it was dry the whole event time.

Here is one of the golf carts that entered the cart competition. We have no idea who won.

Early evening the OFM took a walk over into the water park area to check on the crowds size. There is a pretty good size turn out in spite of the morning weather. Here is a pic across the soccer field at part of the crowd.

We feel like the fireworks might be happening later since with all the rain lately we have a very low fire danger.

One thing for sure there is NO shortage of meat on the grills here today. No matter where you walk in the campground there is some really good fragrances to enjoy. YUM YUM. These folks know how to put on a really good feast as a way of trying to have tooooo much fun.

  1. I agree about watercolor pencils. Kind of puny And also, unpredictable. Did you roof caulking hold up? Here's hoping the window job does to!!

    1. The roof still has a mystery leak in it. Finding the entry point is sometimes a bit difficult. The ones I did find held up after the caulk was added to fill the hole.
