The OFM body was not getting along with the world this morning so we gave it a break on walking first thing after breakfast this morning. However we did hit up the grocery store for some foods and a couple of kitchen needs. But that was the big event for the day. Not the most important but the biggest.

The most important is the OFM finally remembered at a time before already being in bed that we needed to check and verify that the Castles running lights and brake circuits were ready to roll and if not get them that way. So we backed Sierra up to the Castle and connected the harness.

In great amazement to us all the circuits worked just fine. So now we are only a small step or two from just hooking up and rolling.

The good news is the Covid garbage we backed up for is not as bad as the so called news folks made it out a few days ago. It definitely is still a caution to pay attention to but is within our choice of what we will travel with.

That brings us to needing to decide the general locations to head to. We checked temperatures west and some of them are still too high i.e. 100+. Our rent runs out 9-15 so that is the latest we will leave. Any time up until then is up for grabs on short notice.

In the mean time we need to look around this area for another place to try to have tooooo much fun.

  1. September is still mostly too hot, even at my altitude the 10 day weather forecast still has Denver daytime temps in the low 90s high 80s. But nighttime temperatures are getting in the high 50s and I can stand just about any daytime temperature as long as I can sleep cool at night.

If your going to stay in RV parks or other government run parks with electricity, I would just head West so you will soon be out of the humidity and not worry much about the heat since you have air-conditioning.

I know it's painful to pay those weekly and especially daily rates. But if you stay away from the coast, and that coastal heat and humidity, it won't be long and you should be far enough West where the humidity won't be a problem and you can do some boondocking.

    1. Thank you for all the wonderful advice and information. Some of the massive pile of BLM boondocking near Elephant Butte has my attention from stays out there in the past.

    2. Elephant Butte is one of my favorite places, but it's still pretty hot there in September. But the humidity is pretty low, and the night times are chilly so it should be perfectly doable. You can boondock right on the beach and the cool water in the reservoir will make the high temperatures more bearable.

  2. Making certain all your circuits are working before you hit the road is a wise choice.
Like Tom suggested waiting until the temperature drops a little will help you in having tooooo much fun. Lots to explore around Elephant Butte and Truth or Consequences. Nice Walmart all Solar Powered.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
