Lots of Gentle Cold Rain

Adventure Location: Decatur, Al

Today's Date: 12-05-2022

It was a cold wet day with rain literally all day long from before the OFM woke up until now tonight about 2000.

We attempted to find a place to get Sierra repaired but the two recommended locations, both GM dealers, are booked solid to after new years and not accepting new appointments for now. Maybe after the OFM gets new glasses he will be well enough to try the repair himself. We will see. The truck is running well enough to get us to the eye doc tomorrow.......we hope.

About noon the OFM stuck his camera out the door of the Castle when the rain let up some and took this picture of the beautiful day we are having.

It was about 53F at this time. You might notice a little bit of wetness on the ground. According to their gage on the internet the creek/Tennessee river has risen about 2 inches in the last 24 hours. We bet the fish are liking that. Probably lots more critters for food have washed into the water.

Last afternoon while checking out the food locker cabinet we spotted items for beef stoup and away we sent to cooking 2L batch. It came out very well and the OFM had a bowl of it tonight. Here is a pic of it just before we portioned it out last night and put it in the freezer.

One nice thing is that the art effort is a good filler when it is cold and rainy outside. So we finally finished a picture that we have been diligently modifying and coloring for about three weeks. It is about 8x10 and is a mix of watercolor pencil and straight colored pencil.

The hopeful goal tomorrow is to get finished with the MD who treated the OFM's arm and did the cataract surgery. Then try to get new glasses ordered so we can see the world with the correct prescription eye wear. Then when we can see decently again we can really get busy trying to have tooooo much fun.

  1. Best wishes for tomorrow. It's been unusually warm here, and that's nice. No rain though which we could use a lot. A really lot. Though we did get some a week and the lake that is the city water supply came up an inch or so...it's big, so an inch is a lot of water. Oddly enough, we are getting really spectacular fall color on the trees...maybe a result of late rains and occasional freezing. I dunno. But it looks nice in the hood.

  2. Your Sierra started having problems with the cold & damp didn't it? Might be a good place to start looking on the internet. The other thing I'd do was get a cheap OBD2 code reader (I have one that I plug in and read via bluetooth with my phone, it was <$20 from Amazon) and see if that can point you in a direction, I have "fixed" things by disconnecting and reconnecting the electric plug on a sensor before. Then my old time favorite is to pull out my Haynes manual and see what the troubleshooting pages say about my problem.
    Good luck!
