Good grief these active days are wearing the Teams out. We realize that “the doctors” say for us old folks to stay active, but we are thinking that some restful time during the day might be pretty beneficial also.

The OFM hit the deck about an hour before dawn and it was 2030 tonight before we shut down to write the blog. We are pooped from all the running around.

Early fishing started with sunlight happening. Now keep in mind that fishing with the OFM is lure fishing and never staying in one spot for very long without catching a fish. Today was a no fish day so we walked about 5307 miles while casting lures.

While we were at the wooden pier, Mac from New Mexico showed up and we fished together for about an hour. Talking was fun with him. He caught a pile of skipjack fish. Here is one of the little ones.

It took a little scrambling and herding to get this one under control when it came off the hook and flopped around on the pier deck.

Mac finally got control of the fish and posed to show it off to the readers. It was about the average size of the ones surrounding us today.

We had a great time fishing and visiting. Mac is headed down to do some surf fishing tomorrow. He usually does really well.

The OFM spent a bit of time trying to get photos of some of the fishes that feed on the mossy bulkhead under the pier. Only this sheepshead was good enough to publish. They eat the barnacles and other growths on the bulkhead. They are very difficult to catch but very good eating.

After a full day of chasing fish all over the Rockport waterfront all day it was nice to see the sunset announce that it was time to go home and rest.

Yep we did get all worn out from trying to have tooooo much fun.

  3. Whoa, I got so interested in that sheepshead fish I looked it up! https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/running-ponies/the-sheepshead-fish-has-human-teeth-but-its-okay-because-it-wont-give-you-a-psychedelic-crisis/
This too says they are good to eat! Once you get past the teeth. But if they eat barnacles, what are you supposed to use for bait?? I guess you have to net them?
