The early weather report on the Internet showed we had 8-10 mph winds. OK, so we headed for some fishing at the beach park pier. When we pulled into the beach park here was what the flags said about the wind.

The OFM looked up flag action vs wind speeds on the Internet and it said that those flags indicated more than 25 mph of wind. The large wave action on the beach front agreed. So we went meandering.

On down the beach a little bit was a metal detector guy checking the sand for all the stuff the visitors had left behind for him. There are about a dozen different folks we see in the area with metal detectors.

While we were at the beach park we went over to check if they did a bonfire last night.

Looks like they did and already got it all cleaned up. Maybe they also had fried mosquitoes last night too.

We planned on making stoup today and headed over to Walmart for a couple of ingredients. As we left the exit door the OFM noticed a big nasty cloud like a fire going over the trees. Then the fire trucks started sounding off and headed in that direction. We just went on to the Castle.

Much later in the day we went by the area of the smoke and found the sad event location. Here is a picture of the ruined home.

OK enough bad news. Later in the late afternoon we went back to the beach park to try to get in some walking time. The high winds were doing a great job of keeping the mosquitoes off the OFM, but the high temperature and humidity made the walking miserable. We got in some decent walking up and down the stairs of the gazebos and a little loose sand time also. A loop of the big parking lot and then to a structure where they have some sort of events now and then. At this location we found this.

I bet whoever sat there the last time will remember that event for a long time.

Every now and then the OFM would look at the rough water and sigh since fishing did not look like a good way of trying to have tooooo much fun today.

  3. Geez. Not nice weather up here either...humid and windy, and waiting for the remnants of Pamela. But she finally arrived, and so far it is nicer. (Rain of course, but so many miles inland from where you are that's usually OK.) Rough looking water out there....If I were a fish, I'd be staying kind of low down.
