We got out about 0800 for the morning walk and it was miserable. Hot, humidity like yuk and no breeze at all. The OFM tried to set a brisk pace but after about a mile he had to slow it way down. We found out later the heat index was only 96F. But the amount of sweat he got rid of was incredible. Anyway back at the Castle with a fan blowing on us in the air conditioning was wonderful. It was definitely a difficult walk.

We got cleaned up and went over to buy a new latch for the front storage bin door. The new ones are stainless steel and should last a few years. As the OFM was finishing tightening the screws the rain started. He quickly smeared some caulk onto the damp surface and got on back into the Castle. We knew the caulk would not withstand the rain applied in that manner. Well that rain turned into a tremendous torrential down pour that lasted off and on for over four hours. Sure enough when it was finally over, we checked the caulk job and found all the new caulk washed out. So we dried out the crack and let it air dry a little while and then properly applied a new bead of caulk. As of dark tonight it looked just fine. There is always something needing attention in an RV it seems.

For the in between times when we had a chance we were studying using oil pastels for art efforts again. And once again we decided it was way more difficulty than we want to tackle.

Next we worked on “planning?” our departure from Alabama. When the effort was all over we had the day after Labor Day as the target date for departure. Next on the Travel chore list is to decide sort of where we will roll. We are sure we will head south on I-65 to Birmingham and turn right on I-20 heading west. We need to go to Texas to get Sierra inspected and made fully legal for unfettered travel.

This “plan?” gives us about a month to get in some golf here in Decatur as a way of trying to have tooooo much fun.

  1. Oil pastels I find a major problem. But it's been a while since I tried them.I think they need some kind of thinning medium, now that I think about it. But then, unlike you, I never went online for help, just messed around. Fortunately, I had only a very small box of them. I'll be glad to forward them to you if you find they are great!!!

    1. Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. I found them to be a bigger pain this time than the first time I tried them.
