Blustery Day

Adventure Location: Rockport, Texas

Today's Date: 6-6-2022

Not much but a hot bright windy day until this afternoon. A nice walk and a nice hamburger for lunch and some coloring and just general messing around. Then late afternoon got here with lots of strong wind to entertain us all.

The harbor was catching all sorts of troubles from the wind. We estimate the late evening winds at 30mph. We had never seen breakers that size inside the harbor before. Here is a not to bad moment in the harbor evening.

Near where we were for the picture above was moored this nice yacht. If you look carefully you can see where all the canvas used to be protecting the cockpit area. A couple of the “snap down “ cushions are gone also. That will not be a cheap repair.

At the far end of the harbor area the breakwater had waves in the size of five feet higher than the top of the breakwater coming over the breakwater at times this evening. We made good use of the telephoto ability of the camera for this picture. Actually we took about ten attempts to get this shot.

We did not stick around here very long before we cleared out. There was a kite boarder having fun with the waves and wind back near the beach park entrance. Here he is just hanging around having a good time.

That is one sport the OFM never even wanted to attempt when he was trying to ride surfboards over fifty years ago.

We need to get rested up for the big plans of doing very little while also trying to have tooooo much fun tomorrow.

  3. We call those microbursts here in Tucson--when it takes out all the decking pillows and the shade cloth...definitely not have fun when this happens. I have had to run all over the yard looking for the pillows...and they are generally attached to things that go prick!
