Working Hard

Silence woke him this morning. No noisy kids and vehicles were interrupting the quiet. WOW that was nice. It was also about 64 degrees. A great night of sleep. All the walking happening around here is putting better sleeping on the OFM’s body.

We did the normal long walk this morning. The start of this portion of the river shore trail had a really nice beginning in the cool air and STRONG fragrances. Here is the start of the river shore section.

When we got a few hundred yards down the trail, the walk was interrupted by a fresh flower falling from a tree.

We recalled these flowers from the years past. Forgetting to look them up to see what they are must have happened many times. HOWEVER the OFM remembered to look them up tonight. It is the blossom from a Tulip Poplar tree.  As we recall there are a lot of those trees along the river. Sometimes the pathway gets covered in the blossoms and the Teams hate to walk on them. It is a pretty flower isn’t it.

The walk continued on to a junction with other trail options. We chose one to the right and went about a quarter mile along it before turning around to head for the Castle.

We were heading for the “tunnel trail” we showed on our first morning in town.  But since we attempt to see everything these holes in a tree (one of many trees) caught our attention.

There are lots of woodpeckers in this area. Naturally being the great woodsman he is the OFM had no idea what made them. After considering things for a few seconds we decided to ask the readers if they are holes made by woodpeckers. They stayed in a line and spiralled from low on the tree up to about 15 feet high.

Back at the Castle the OFM cooled off a bit and then we went to practice hitting golf balls. We are pretty certain after the exercise today that the OFM will be needing to use a golf cart for his golf playing. When the weather gets hotter we are certain he will use a cart or we will spank him unmercifully.

By the end of the day, the OFM was worn down pretty well. Trying to have tooooo much fun can be hard work.
