New Glasses Arrived

Adventure Location: Rockport, Texas

Today's Date: 6-7-2022

The walking was good this morning with a strong breeze. A little after we arrived home a call came in that the new glasses had arrived and were ready to pickup. After lunch nearby we stopped in to pickup the glasses and let the vision care facility make certain everything was good to go. It wasn't. When it was all said and done the OFM is wearing them with the left bottom of the trifocal not just right. We will find out more when we get another test on Thursday morning.

The rest of the lenses are definitely a good improvement and they have done well this evening.

During the afternoon the OFM worked on the new painting and the new lenses are a nice improvement for the hobby too.

So there you have it, the whole day of trying to have tooooo much fun again.

  1. Well, new glasses mostly taken care of. Mostly. That's good. And if painting was easier, that's very very good.

  2. Have you ever considered Laser or Cataract Surgery. You would only need reading glasses and could get sunglasses off the shelf. It would be a great way for having tooooo much fun.
Be Safe and Enjoy the new glasses.

    It's about time.

  3. Several years ago I had to have cataract surgery and ended up having both eyes done at the same time. I sprung some extra $$$$ and had special lenses installed that corrected by astigmatism and opted to go with, on the recommendation of my eye surgeon, lenses that would give me permanent 20/30 vision.

It would mean that I would need to still have reading glasses, but it has turned out to be life changing for me, as I no longer have to wear glasses, don't need glasses to drive any more, per the CA DMV, and it is just the greatest thing since sliced bread. I do have reading glasses stashed everywhere, but that is a small price to pay, in my book.

I do have a pair of glasses that give me 20/20 vision that I wear when driving at night, which is less and less any more. The reason for the glasses at night has to do with the pinhole camera effect. With less light at night, the pupils open up more and that causes the vision to drop off to about 20/40, which is not acceptable to me, so I wear the glasses to bring it back up to 20/20.

During bright sunlight, the pinhole effect works in the opposite way. The pupils contract and vision actually gets sharper.

All in all, 20/30 has worked out great for me. If you every have to have cataract surgery, you should at least look into all the options available.

    1. Thank you for the input. I am waiting for an eye doctor to tell me I need cataract surgery before I get it done. So far none has thought it was needed yet.
