Thorny Plant Identification

Adventure Location: Falcon Lake State Park Texas

Adventure Date: 2-10-2023

The morning was cold and extremely windy. So a walk was going to be a test of survival it seemed. When were stepped out it was obviously not going to be a nice walk because the wind tried to knock the OFM off the trailer step first thing. So it was suck it up and get with it time. We quickly found that the thick brush stopped the brutal wind if you could stay behind it.

That gave the OFM a few thoughts about which trails to take and after that things were much better. The bright morning sun warmed us nicely whenever we were down in the ruts through the brush out of the wind.

We got in a good bit of meandering around carefully looking at vegetation and thorny plants. One thorny plant that is somewhat attractive is the one in this next picture.

If any one knows the name of it please let us know since we have not found it on the Internet yet. There is a lot of them in the area this year.

Back at the Castle the OFM decided to try his hand at drawing that plant and coloring it. The OFM is a barely minimally drawer of objects. We got a drawing done and the coloring began. By the time we finished we had a nice picture of the sticker plant, Well compared to a kindergarten artist.

During the day we visited a friend or two and discussed the future travel plans and a couple of other things. Yep no decisions were made about anything.

Now we are considering our known options of moving on but the weather just a days travel north is not nice for the OFM Teams yet. What will we do? We do not know yet. But we do know that we will work hard at trying to have tooooo much fun in spite of the cold and windy weather.

  1. I don't know what the thorn plant is but I know I'd want to stay away from it. The drawing looks like a good replication of the plant and just as alarming with those thorns.

  2. That plant looks familiar, unloved as it is. But I can't remember what it is. Unfriendly critter.. I'll keep thinking.
