Lots Of Wind

Adventure Location: Rockport, Texas

Today Date: 4-4-2023

We woke to some knees that worked well this morning, so we got them over to the Municipal Park walking trail and had a good go at a bit more than 1.6 miles of decent speed walking again. It certainly was nice getting to move along without pain again.

The wind was a bit miserable today. This next picture is from near the entrance to the Beach Park later. The palm tree and flags are having a don't get blown away contest. When we finished trying to take pictures a little later we passed both the tree and the flags still fighting it out.

When we got to the far end parking lot the wave action was moving a lot of water onto the parking lot over the bulkhead.

We kept Sierra on the far side of the parking lot to minimize the salt water bath from the spray. Imagine falling into the water at the bulkhead. It is about four feet down to the water, Then the water is only about two to three feet deep. Then suddenly you realize you have a slimy concrete wall about seven feet tall to do a spiderman imitation and crawl up and onto while waves are crashing into you. Our solution to bulkhead dangers all our life has been to stay away from them. Very few bulkhead walls have ladders to climb back up on.

When we toured the bird sanctuary area we noticed that the birds were very active in building new birds. We ought to have a big crop of baby birds in a couple of months. That is good to see nature functioning well. Sea birds are very important to the health of our land.

We also applied to stay another month here at the Quiet One RV Park. We know the park is running totally full now days but an empty spot could still develop by the time we run out of our current paid up time. If things go wrong we will just have to go down the road an hour to the free camping beach in Port Lavaca Tx.

Tonight we are hoping for a great night of sleep for a change. That would make it a lot easier for trying to have tooooo much fun.
