Beach Walk With Surprise Ending

Adventure Location: Rockport, Texas

Today Date: 4-10-2023

It was a nice and peaceful day most of the day today until later and you will see what wasn't peaceful at the end of tonight's blog.

After a nice calm breakfast the Teams headed out for a good walk somewhere. As we got the feel of what the crowds were like today, NONE, we thought about it a bit and decided a beach walk sounded like a great idea. And it came to be. We entered the Beach Park with some nice good mornings from the gate crew as we meandered Sierra into the park not knowing where we would be heading in the park. But the heavenly skies gave us a great hint with this scene.

Yep we needed to try a nice beach walk today. So we choose a good location to park and made our way out onto the beach and headed east. The beach cleaning crews had already done a lot of trash clean up so there was little in the sand to attract our attention as we made our way toward the morning sun.

then we saw it. The tiny 2” white crab body on the sand.

That turned out to be the only thing of interest for the whole beach walk on the sand near the water. The sky kept on making wild shapes with the clouds and we kept on walking enjoying it all. The walking in the sand is a lot more strenuous than on the paving. That means the OFM was getting a nice workout even at our slower pace in the soft sand.

When we hit the far east end the OFM decided to attempt a better shot of the smoker Rob noticed in yesterdays picture of the family gathering.

It is a big barrel in diameter and about eight feet long. It would handle a lot of pork chops for sure.

We decided to walk more away from the waters edge going back and headed up to the grass line away from the waters edge. By the time we caught our mistake and headed back to the waters edge, the mosquitoes had siphoned a couple of quarts of blood out of the OFM and he was getting faint. So we stayed right at the waters edge all the way back and the mosquitoes left us alone until we got back into Sierra.

When we got into Sierra the OFM realized that his legs were more worn out than he thought so we called it finished for the morning walk and headed out of the park for home

BUT

as we left the gate at the entrance we noticed some activity over near a favorite fishing spot on the marina breakwater we just naturally had to check out. So off to see the lizard of curiosity we went. Sure enough they had started to breaking the concrete breakwater apart.

It has been failing for the last few years so apparently we will be having lots of sidewalk superintendents busy for a while as whatever is planned gets done.

That pretty well hits the high part of today square in the teeth and we spent the rest of the day just trying to have an ordinary amount of tooooo much fun.
