This morning the OFM went to work on the tax filing papers and quickly got frustrated with his inability to follow the instructions. He finally decided that his age might be part of the trouble. The data was packed up and away we went to the local H&R Block location. The OFM was treated wonderfully, all his concerns and questions answered and the return filled out and submitted in 45 minutes. He was even shown the error of his ways that was causing him difficulty and the lady did not even giggle at him loud enough to hear.

The final cost to the Teams for this education was $140. And to top it off, when we got back to the Castle about twenty minutes after they filed the form, there were emails from the Feds acknowledging

  1. receipt of the filing

  2. accepting the filing as a correctly done filing

  3. Notification to the OFM that the filing was correct and accepted as finished and approved.

  4. Notice that the small refund has already been put into the refund system and should be in the OFM's hands in less that three weeks.

So in less than an hour they achieved much more than the OFM did in three weeks of part time efforts. We will be doing it this way in the future.

Meanwhile the fish sandwich at Whataburger in celebration that the Income Tax mess is over for the year went really well.

Which brings us to the question of what do the teams do with all this extra couple of weeks we have now?

  1. Ha. Congratulations on having enough income as an OFM to get a refund!! I haven't had one of those in a long time. Meanwhile, the charge from my CPA's office this year was $85. It's been $120 for at least 10 years. What could that mean?? I guess the less money the less trouble to file. Which is good news, and bad news. Hard to tell. Enjoy the beach life!

    1. I actually live on a nice small sum less than my SSA income. The little bit of other income is being squirreled away for Sierra's replacement when we wear Sierra out. By careful paying attention the Teams do live comfortably on the road......so far.
