I Do Not Know

 ROCKPORT, TEXAS

2/19/2025

The OFM was talking to some other long time full timers today about where to go / what to do next. The OFM has been continuously on the road full time RVing since the first week of October 2007. The OFM did plan it carefully enough that the physically difficult hikes etc were done in his younger years. Now after 17 years of roaming and body decline at the age of 78.5 he is having difficulty  figuring out what he can safely do next that he might want to do. A couple of the folks were slightly older than the OFM and they each said they were having the same situation in their lives. The three or four others said they did not get started early enough to run out yet but they said they all could see the choices getting slimmer these days also. If the OFM remembers right the youngest person was 72. So  tonight we are asking for comments from other RVers for future adventures for older folks if they have any. Thank you for any suggestions you might be willing to share. Good Night.

  1. Barney, I'm 75 and my sweetheart will be 76 next month. We Just bought a second Camper (2017 Nash 22H) for a summer run around trailer and leaving our 5th wheel in Arizona for a resting place in the winter. We are not ready to give and hope you will do the same. Yes, some tasks get more difficult as we age but we just have to remember to go a little slower and be more thoughtful about using a checklist. Things that use to be automatic take a little more thought. Not ready to give up. Hang in there and the very most happy travels to you!

    1. The 2005 model AF 22H I live in is by far the best trailer I have ever met since I first started rving in 1972. I bet yours will out last anything built these days. Thanks for the boost.

  2. 77 here, and have no plans to quit. You have a number of things to consider such as a different rig, your own health, and family time. The main thing though, is do what Barney wants to do.😃

    1. I often wish you would start a new blog since your other one was so excellent. I have been considering on getting a lot smaller rig such as your EGG to replace my 24 foot 6000 pound rig. Thanks for the comment.

  3. Hi Barney, I just want to say that you have been at this since October 2007 and I bet you can think of some changes you have made to adapt to older age. Like Jerry said do what Barney wants to do you have a sharp mind and great common sense you will be fine.

  4. I've read many blogs of Fulltime RVers and they all have the same issue. Health issues is the biggest reason for hanging up the keys.
    Stay Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
