ADVENTURE LOCATION:

POINT MALLARD CAMPGROUND

We got rolling right on time this morning. At a nearby parking lot we did a final systems check and all systems were go. And we went.
To our surprise everything was doing well. The OFM had to do a bit of recalling towing techniques after the year and a half of not towing. By the time we got to the highway he had most of it remembered.
Everything went very well all the way to Mississippi. Then well into that state we were rolling nicely when a driver pulled near our driver side, double honked his horn and pointed at the Castle. That is pretty much the standard “something is broke” highway signal.
The OFM eased us onto the shoulder got stopped and went to look around. Yep big trouble. So we eased along the shoulder to a large parking lot . This is what we found,
After getting that changed the rest of the trip went well to the Mississippi rest area we are spending the free night at. Tomorrow we plan to get back into Texas.
The traveling feels really good. Have a good night all.
Glad to see you're finally on the road Barney. The site of that tire brought back some bad memories from my trailering days, and is one of the reasons I don't do that anymore. I might still have a flat tire someday but at least it will be on the truck and I'll know immediately when it happens.
ReplyDeleteDrive carefully Barney, disintegrated tires on a trailer is no way to have toooo much fun.
Tom
Perhaps it is time for a tire change all around. Tires do dry rot from sitting too long.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are safe.
the Ol'Buzzard
So a kerfluffle for sure, but all in all, it's going well it seems and you are on the road!!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels...
ReplyDeleteAnother common thing to happens to Tires that have sat for over a year.
ReplyDeleteSafe Travels and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Tires don't like to sit for long periods, you might want to replace them all.
