MADISON, ALABAMA
6/17/25
Tonight we had just sat down for supper in the dining room and getting a good start on the conversations when the fire alarms sounded off all over the building. Several folks jumped into action. We later learned the facility has specially trained teams for all sorts of emergency events.
First response was to get everyone seated again. Then they brought together a fairly organized evacuation to pre planned waiting areas. That was nice to see in action.
In the meantime another trained team headed to the area the fire alarm system said had a fire event in progress. They could not find any trouble in that area. The evacuation got a bit more organized and orderly and the head counts started. There must have been ten repeated head counts especially for the disabled diners. Shortly later the fire department arrived and went through the building room by room to verify the situation.
Finally the building was declared fire free and reentry started very very orderly. The OFM got back to his meal and continued his eating. By the time the meal was finished everyone had pretty well calmed down. Folks went on with their evening plans as originally planned.
So we had a bit of special entertainment to keep us entertained at supper tonight.
It definitely feels different when someone else has to deal with a problem that affects you and others together.

It's about time.
Well, I guess a false alarm was a good thing. You got to see what the plan is in case of a real fire. But. Too bad it happened at suppertime. Seems like the food would have been cold before you could eat it. I thought of you yesterday. Mixed some leftovers and made stoup. Please keep blogging. I need to know how you are doing!
ReplyDeleteGlad it was a false alarm. So glad you are still blogging. Keep us informed . We have followed you a long time and always am glad to hear from you!
