Monster Trail Guard

Adventure Location:

Decatur, Alabama

Date: March 7, 2024

First the bad news from New Mexico to aid in making camping choices for the summer time and after. The story we have noticed circulating is that all the good camping deals NM is known for are void starting in July. All campsites in a NM state park will be $40 a night. Other good deals on using the parks are supposed to go up big amounts also. We do not know that these are facts for sure and as of tonight only partial changes or announcements were available on the NM State Parks site. This is all we know for now.

Moving on now to another beautiful day in north Alabama. This is the trail out from the back of the campground. It ties into the trail system approximately where most of the trails that make up the trails complex come together. It is a very well done complex of trails.

And the guardian of the trail complex is the Big Eye Long Nose Monster who roams the trails and keeps an eye on EVERYTHING that happens. But it is a friendly monster.

Some water is still standing on or near the trail pathways so we took the paved trail/road today to keep our tootsies dry. Today was warm as about 71F about noon with gentle breeze. But the OFM teams still did not want to walk in wet shoes.

Flint Creek was hosting lots of fishing boats this morning all over the area. We got to wondering if some sort of fishing tournament was going on.

We would like to thank Mr. Monster for keeping it calm and peaceful today. These trails are a pretty good place for trying to have tooooo much fun.

  1. I like the header picture, it looks like comfortable place to sit and enjoy the view, think deep thoughts, read a book or just rest...

All that standing water, won't that help the Alabama (feel free to change the name as needed) state bird get a good start? (Mosquitos :-)

    Have a fine Friday Barney!

    1. It is a big surprise to folks that we have nearly no biting bugs in the park in my 12 years of visiting here. They do not spray for them either.

    2. Then I wasted a perfectly good mosquito joke! :-)

  2. Well, New Mexico is run by Democrats. What did you expect? Just took them a while to getting around to ruining the camping and RVing, like everything else they touch.
