NOW IS TIME

MADISON, ALABAMA

8/3/2025

The OFM and KIDDO (the OFM's son) worked for a few hours today trying to teach the OFM how to publish a blog and pictures again. Alas, the OFM no longer has enough personal memory to be doing that any more. His old age limits at 79 have caught up with him. The OFM even could not take pictures and edit them to fit into the blog again So we regretfully have to let it go and say good bye to OLD FAT MAN ADVENTURES . We have had a great time for over 20 years  traveling and reporting the great things to see and do in our country and visiting with folks. This heartfelt good bye is published thanks to the help of KIDDO.  Please keep your blogs going as long as you can so the OFM can get a chance to read how things on the road or wherever you are doing. I hope to be able to comment on others blogs for awhile yet.

GOOD BYE AND SAFE TRAVELS

  4. Like I have said before, we write our blogs for ourselves but allow others to read them as well. By doing so, we pass along our knowledge to others so that they can avoid some of our mistakes and benefit from some of our tutorials. I am honoured to have to have learned many things from your adventures.
Hopefully, we can once again make the trek to the southwest soon, so we can stop by to actually meet you in person.
Stay Safe and Enjoy your recovery.

    It's about time.

  5. Barney, perhaps your Kiddo can help you to pop in with a short post once in a while so that we all know how you are doing. Take care!

  7. Greetings friend. Have read your comments from Rolling Steel Tent. I have noted he hasn't posted for a few weeks which is unusual. Do you have any news from him?

  9. Barney, I have always wished I could have met you during your travels. It would have been wonderful to sit and chat with you. I want to thank you for the joy you have brought to my life every day through your travels and your blog. I remember thoroughly enjoying the banter between you and Ole Billy Bob. I second the emotion that you please have your son (hello, Kiddo!) post a blog for you from time to time to let us know you are still doing well. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

    1. Maybe a "still alive" blog is possible. I will take a look at that. Could be that reporting what is happening as a senior could be valuable to the readers. I like that idea. Thank you very much.

  10. Well partner, we've said our goodbyes before, on the Internet and in person, always figuring that we would run into each other again somewhere on that long, bumpy road to adventure, and I haven't given up hope that you're doing all this just because it's your turn to pay for breakfast at IHOP, but just in case you really did hang up your truck keys this time, I'm hoping the remainder of your life will be just as free and happy as your 20 years of full- timing. But if you do happen to run into me again boondocking on the beach at Padre Island Texas, you're welcome to camp next to theboondork any time.

Tom....... not having tooooo much fun without the Old Fat Man around.

  11. I've enjoyed reading your blog over many years Barney. It's sad to hear the problems you are having but you are still fighting and that is a good thing. Take care of yourself, do the best you can and enjoy those grandkids you have.
