Since this is an adventures blog and not an I did this or
that blog, the only adventure story for today is a 22” long fat speckled trout
caught on a red tail glow white shrimp tail jig on the last cast before going
home for lunch. It put up a great fight
and stripped line several times. After
landing the fish, it was given to a couple fishing nearby.
Cleaning one fish
did not fit into my idea of trying to have tooooo much fun. Although catching a nice
fish like that is a great way of trying to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
I understand from those who fish that fishing, no matter if you catch none, one, or many, has a calming effect on the person. For me it is sewing. Doesn't matter if it is to repair a garment or construct something entirely new I am calmed by the process.
ReplyDeleteCleaning a fish has the opposite effect, so I am told. I can understand why you gave it up and sometimes throw them back.
I can't imagine anything nicer though than sitting by the ocean for a while to fish or just to relax. My husband and I did that last week at Dana Point, CA and it was wonderful watching the boats and listening to the sounds of water and enjoying the breeze.
Not much fishing goes on at Dana Point but fishing boats and personal boats do leave from there to go deep sea fishing. There are many piers along the coast at Ocean Side, New Port and Huntington beach all have one that people fish from. Have you ever been to CA to fish? If so how is it different from Rock Port? I have only been to one beach outside of CA and that was in North or South Carolina way back in the 60's.
California is cold salt water and Rockport is warm salt water. Fishing is a lot easier in Texas.
Delete22 inch long!! Nice fish!! You ARE having TOO much fun. I need to follow you around for a year or two.
