The day was hot but nice.
A bit of road trip was in order so the Truck took off for places
unknown. However when we arrived it was
at Light House Lakes Park outside of the City of Aransas Pass. A lot of work
has been done to enhance the park. One
especially nice feature is the new gazebos and picnic tables they have
added. Here is one of the gazebo structures.
As you can see there are information signs mounted on the
railings. Only one gazebo set was reviewed for now. They had a LOT of information on them. Here are a few selected ones to tease you
into going down to see them yourself.
LHL, as Light House Lakes is known down here, is a very
complex environmental area as you can find out from the signs. It is also very easy to get lost in there and
have a lot of difficulty finding the right waterways to follow back to your
starting point.
There are a good number of predator birds in the area. The
osprey is a fine bird to watch when it is on the hunt. It is amazing how large
the fish can be that the osprey can carry off to eat.
The shore birds are also around in great quantity. The best viewing is by kayak all through the
marsh. However, some excellent viewing
can normally be had right here in the park.
A good thing for birders is that the birds are very
accustomed to having folks nearby and will stay in place for pictures most of
the time.
Sunset was quite picturesque tonight so a lot of battery
juice was used taking pictures. This is
one of them.
Sitting on a bench visiting a new acquaintance and taking
pictures like the above of the sunset is a very good way of trying to have
tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
I just wanted to say thanks for all the beautiful pictures. What a lovely area you live around.
