WOW there is rejoicing and excitement in the Castle this
afternoon. The low glycemic load diet
that has been going on since last November appears to have caused a dramatic
change in my cholesterol level. November
saw my total level at 210 and the results that came in today from the blood
donation last Thursday have the level at 175.
That is the lowest level ever in my life. Maybe giving up most bread, rice and other
processed grain foods is important to my particular body system. We will only
know after a year of being on the diet if it really works. It is for certain
that my blood sugar lows have nearly disappeared, so that alone makes the diet
change worthwhile.
Meanwhile the excitement today disappeared before my body
joined the world this morning. At least a good bit of fishing was done
today. A morning effort resulted in a
grand total of zero bites or fish for two of us on the pier. Then late this afternoon some more fishing
effort went unrewarded except for on trout “Pop” caught just before the OFM
Fishing Team left the pier.
On the way off the pier this highly sophisticated tackle
box was waiting to get its picture taken to show you how the long time
fisherfolk carry their tackle.
All this fishing time seems to be one of the best ways I
have found to try to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
Congratulations on the health numbers improvement, Barney.
ReplyDeleteThank you SJ. Maybe it even means something good.
DeleteThat's a good improvement in your cholesterol. The only time Russ has shown real improvement in glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol is when he follows a low glycemic load diet. We did a modified Atkins and even eating bacon and eggs all the time, all his numbers improved dramatically. Hard for him to stay on it though. Hoping for more good reports from you.
ReplyDeleteHope you caught some fish with that high tech stuff.
That is to high tech and heavy for me. My tackle box is my front shirt pocket. Nope no fish for me today.
DeleteCongrats on the controlling of the cholesterol! That is GREAT news!
ReplyDeleteNow, do you have the little padded seat lid for the bucket to sit on when you get to the fishing hole?

From the comments I think your diet must be similar to the one my husband an I lost 40+ lbs. on. We need to get back too it because he also lost his borderline diabetes on that diet. We still have more than a few lbs. to lose too. Good for you for sticking to it and improving your health. Sorry you aren't catching much fish but I bet just enjoying the ocean rhythm is enough of a benefit to try each morning. Thanks for the e-mails about the towing. I appreciate it so much.
