The Corpus Christi Beach area is fairly nice. It is on the island that has the aircraft
carrier Lexington and the Texas Aquarium.
A little meandering was done today to see what there was to see. First off it is a high density area for folks
and roads. The beach area is fairly nice and large,
Next to the Lex is a breakwater/pier that is open to the
public. The trouble is that there is not
any parking close to the pier except for the expensive lots for the Lex and the
aquarium. But as a meanderer an on foot
trip to the breakwater was easy. Near
the end of the breakwater is a great photo opportunity for a shot of the Lex. A paddle will not move that boat very fast.
From that same spot you get a great view of the harbor
bridge into CC and the back side of the Aquarium.
There was this red boat messing around out in the
bay. When it was first seen, it looked
like a moving light house with waves breaking around it. As it got closer it was obviously a boat of
some sort. It did make a lot of wake
wherever it went.
And finally it was time to say good bye to the yak and
all its accessories. It is going to a
good home with three smaller children to love it. They will get to learn about yakking on one
of the most fun boats ever built.
It is guaranteed that meeting nice folks and seeing new
areas is a great way of trying to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
Well I sure hope those kids have as much fun on that yak as you seem to have had.
ReplyDeleteI ain't comment'n till I see the new boat.
ReplyDeleteNice pic of the Lexington. I been on it a couple times after it arrived in CC.
The Lexington is an interesting tour BUT the ladders sure can get rough on the knees. I fully intend to tour it in more detail some day cause my first attempt was cold and windy.
ReplyDeleteAnd you got rid of the YAK? WTH?
I'm interested in any info you want to pass along about on-top kayaks. I own a 14 foot lake kayak, complete with rudder, that I used to take out on my travels. Almost got blown out into the middle of Lake Superior once, fooling around.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting too down in the back these days to climb into the thing (or get out). I was thinking about replacing it with one I can just sit down on, instead of in. I was looking at this one:

I'd appreciate it if you would share your research.

Bob, that is one of the better ones. Bad knees got me out of canoes and sit in kayaks. Send me an email with your address and we can discuss details off line. ofmadventures@hotmail.com
