Teams Location: Rockport, Texas
The newest OFM Team member arrived last evening late. It
has already proven to be a major improvement for the Teams.
This morning the box was opened and the studying started
on the operating manual. The operating
style is very similar to the old camera, BUT the new camera has a lot more
features. The most important part is the
menus on the camera screen are much easier to use and understand.
By noon the study time was over and it was time to put the new Team Member to
work. The blog header above was the result of one type of scene given the
camera to do properly and it did.
All sorts of pictures were given to the camera to digest
and do well. In every case it did very
well. In fact several trials resulted in
better than any camera in my life before.
Here is the first picture taken during the trial runs today. It was a
gray nasty windy day with lots of water in the air.
Somewhere along the way flowers had to be used to check
out the camera. This next picture was
taken with the normal lens set up. The
distance was about 24 inches.
These next flowers were shot from about five inches in
macro mode hand held so the crispness is less than the best. The tripod would have helped a lot.
Down by the harbor the waves were crashing with
vigor. In fact the pier had wave froth
washing across it. We stayed on the
parking lot so the camera did not get salt water on it the first day. However the
built in stairs down to the water nearly got us soaked anyway. Every so often a wave would hit at the
correct angle to cause a large splash to come up the stairwell and spray
several feet onto the parking lot. It took a couple of tries but the Team did
get a good shot.
One good part of running around taking lots of pictures
is folks just naturally seem to want to talk to you. That was fun.
Late in the evening as we waited for a fancy sunset, a
huge dark cloud bank moved into the area cutting off all hope of a fancy
sunset. The Camera suggested we make the
best of the situation and shoot what was available. It turned out fairly nice anyway.
It has been a long day but it was also fun filled. My
thanks go to Shoeless Joe
for recommending this camera. It will be a great asset in the goal of trying to
have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
Great photos, Barney - thank you. Think I'll look into that kind, too. My camera is having "issues" - actually, "spots"!

Does this make us all camera brothers? I almost bought the A1200, but when I seen the A1300 with 16 megapixels....well you know the rest the story.
ReplyDeleteNice photos I might say. Very good quality.
I shoot at the 2 meg level for my pictures so any more than that is wasted on me.
ReplyDeleteGlad I didn't seem to irritate you or Billy Bob with my selection of cameras. I hope it gives you many years of service, but remember it's not a very good swimmer.
ReplyDeleteThat is ok I have a life jacket for it on order. Need to be safe in my ancient years.
ReplyDeleteI got one exactly like that awhile back. Wanted something with a view finder so I could use it in the bright sun. Mine is an A1200 also. I got mine back in October and posted about it on my blog: http://dizzydick.blogspot.com/2011/10/wondering-about-new-camera.html I still carry the old one more since it is thinner and fits in my shirt pocket much better.
ReplyDeleteWhether it's an expensive camera or a moderately priced one having a good photograghic eye as you do helps to capture beautiful pictures and helps pass the day at Having TOOO Much Fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
It is always exciting getting a new camera. Of course then you have to figure out how it works. It looks like you have already mastered the many new features your camera offers. Great pics!
ReplyDeleteJimbo, Read about them yes. Mastered them, NO!
ReplyDeleteHowdy OFM,
ReplyDeleteWhen I had the $$ I went on ebay and got ebayed on cameras; bought 2 just alike and the docks for'em, battery packs & everything!! Docks never worked, batteries ran down and because the docks didn't work couldn't re-charge the battery packs, so, NO PICS!!! NO $$$ !!! Buncha junk!!!
Alright.. how did you use the new camera to get a picture of the new camera? (grin grin)
