The hot weather is back my sweaty body said to me this morning. Today was the day the Castle got to move to a site that gives afternoon and evening shade. $hade is very important during the summer sun and heat in Texas. It also $aves $erious money on the AC. It was only a one site over move but the cool air of the last four days was gone by the time my bed let go of me. The AC turned on about 10 am and will likely run until sometime in October. This is probably our home until after Labor Day.
Chores were the force of the day. My two fishing rods were brought out and the older reel cleaned up and new line put on it. The new reel bought in Deming was spooled with new line also and installed on my other rod. The saltwater tackle box was brought out of deep storage and checked for its needs.
Later in the day a trip to Lowe’s in Aransas Pass netted some more rigid insulation foam for some more additions to the insulation of the Castle. Again to save more money is the purpose.
While out and about a stop was made at the marina area and the fishing rods given a work out. They both worked very well. Inspection of the tackle box revealed a serious lack of a couple of proven lures. Of course it is a really undesirable chore to have to go to Tackle Town and purchase the needed lures. However somebody needs to do it and I am man enough to handle the task. HE HE HE
There is a tourist shop on the main road through town that keeps a pet out by the street. Finally a picture of it was acquired by taking my life in my hands and getting close enough to get eaten. It requires careful maneuvering and quick movements but the goal was achieved.
Now all this activity had me somewhat tired so some rest was in order. The store had even thought of that and provides a place to rest. That is very nice of them.
There are lots of fireants in this area. Some ant bait was purchased when the Team was at Lowe’s. As anyone ever attacked by them will tell you, killing fireants is a great way to try to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
Fire ants, the curse of the South. Let's just say I learned that fire ants and sandals don't mix.
ReplyDeletePretty cool location. And glad they have you nap spot all cleaned up for you...

Good Morning,
ReplyDeleteI am trying to be ready for whenever I head out from home.
I now have 30 lb test weight line on my fishing rod for catching Northern Pike here in MN.
What lb line should I put on for fishing in your area off a dock?
Thanks
Why do you stay in Texas in the su mmer? I am a Texan, but still working--headed to Rockport in the morning for a few days, boondocking in my class B. I love Rockport but head north in the summer when I can.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. Keep it up.
Beth
I read recently that Splenda sprinkled on fireants will kill them. I haven't tried it yet but plan to this summer. I've tried sprinking dry grits on them with some success.
ReplyDeleteBeth, any suggestions????
