The trip to walk the beach was aborted today when the Truck reached the beach at Port Aransas. The water was still high and hordes of folks out playing in the sun and salt. So a big loop was made to check out how things are going down on the barrier islands. Apparently the jobs slow down of the television are not stopping many folks from the sand and sun. Everywhere was lots of folks spending money.
The restaurants around lunch time on the barrier islands were over running with folks waiting in lines out the doors. There is a spot way back in the marsh that seldom has folks there that are not hardcore fishermen. Today there were three cars of tourists fishing in there near the highway. So the Truck carried me elegantly to a launching spot closer to the bay. To my surprise there was two young men wade fishing across the channel from the launch spot.
Back at Rockport, the Rockport Blue Wave Beach was getting a lot of business. The wind was moving right smartly across the water and sand. Loads of folks were getting there suntans and wind burns playing in the water and on the beach. It appeared that most all of them were having a really good time. The temperature was only 92 in the shade.
