The Fire

Rockport, Texas

What is a better thing to do on a wet cold rainy day than supervise and warm cozy fireplace?

The owner, Brian, stoked up a good fire this morning and maximum advantage was taken of it by some certain old fat man. It certainly was a nice way to relax while we watch the temperature fall on the new fabulous thermometer on the porch. Lunch time rolled around and we were exhausted from all the supervisory work. Brian’s wife fixes him a great lunch. As for me it was a Wal-Mart can of generic chicken noodle soup that is actually very good.

Yesterday some nice pictures were taken near the waterfront at Cove Harbor. A very pleasant fellow was getting ready to go out and harvest some ducks. Duck meat is NASTY to me, but many like it. His pup was a very well behaved pup. Apparently the pup has spent a good bit of time on the boat, because he knew exactly the right things to do when on board. Here they are heading out from the ramp. When the boat started to move a bit faster the pup went back to the console and braced himself for the ride.

At this place they have the dry stack boat storage available. The boats are stored in cubby holes inside the big building. When you want to go out in the boat, give them a call and your boat will be waiting in the water all ready to go except for live bait. When you get back, just stop at the office to let them know you are leaving. Then they wash and clean the rig. After the cleaning it is put back into its cubbyhole. In this next picture you can see the boats stacked inside the building.

The haze of the day made for some neat pictures. Naturally many shots were taken and a few even worked out. This next shot is along a row of bay front houses with long piers out into the bay. At the end of the piers the water is likely nearly four feet deep in the summer.

At one harbor and launch ramp is a shrimp boat that is used when the shrimp are in the bays. With the climatic conditions like they were, it seemed like a nice picture to capture.

With the weather being very cold for the next three nights, we should have a lot of relief from the mosquitoes and other undesirable bugs. That could really help in the quest for trying to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM
