Too Hot Here

Fredericksburg, Texas

Laundry was done this afternoon. Patti the attendant and I spent a good while enjoying conversation and swapping tales. When it was time to go back to the Castle, the temperature had hit 96 degrees with high solar load. Close to very miserable is my description.

The excessive heat sensitivity that has hit me the last few days got me to researching to see if it was old age related. From the internet information, it seems that my age could have a small amount to do with it. The big surprise is that the medicine for helping my blood pressure can have a large effect on heat sensitivity. HCTZ is the medicine. It was started up in Washington after the last warm weather there. Since returning to Texas my heat sensitivity has been worse than when this was home for the first 55 years of my life. A chance comment to OF Bob at the golf course about my heat problems since coming back to Texas helped me to start the research. According to the information, only a small percentage of folks are bothered by that side effect. It looks like I am a small percentage.

All that research led me to looking for interesting to me places that are not so hot in the summer. It looks like there is no place cooler in the summer unless you get above 6000 feet elevation. Oh Boy. Back in Washington, at 6000 feet and up my body rejected moving around. It seems my sea level all my life body does not like the thin air at all. So now it is back to choosing the least undesirable location to wait out the hot weather. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Another "event" is that not having a paddling boat is noticeable missed. So now the search is on again. A rigid hull would be nice but is way too much in the way while traveling. Additionally my desire is for a hull more to travel a few miles more easily than the highly maneuverable one that was my last yak.

But most of all, all these developing hindrances will only increase my determination to get out and try harder to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.

  1. I'm telling ya, it is wondeful up here in the northern states in the summer. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan. Lots of lakes, fishing and boating. The people are nice too. ;)
