Ennis, Texas
Lake Bardwell COE Park
Sinton was left behind this morning about 8:30 am. There was a route all mapped out and the place to stay the night already chosen in Waco Texas. WRONG AGAIN!!! As the route led north the rain and fog stayed with us. Finally after lunch down in a roadside rest area, it was chosen to head east to find sun maybe.
As the route went through Bryan Texas, the weather changed from mid forties to mid sixties and sunshine. Now we are doing good. About five miles after the turn north on I-45 we ran into the rain, mist, fog and dreary mess again and it stayed with us the rest of the day.
All right, turn toward a state park for the night as it was getting later than driving was comfortable. OOPS there went the exit. So an hour later in the evening twilight camp was made on Lake Bardwell. The price with my OLD FARTS NATIONAL PASS was seven dollars for the night with electricity for my heater to warm the Castle.
Outside it is the low forties and very wet and windy. Ratzzz. At least the truck did not have to unhook from the Castle. All that is needed in the morning is pack away the electric cord and let the tongue jack down. Then roll. Actually the Castle could have done without the electric, but since it is paid for in the price why use my propane.
As you just heard, any planned route is highly suspect. A great campsite on Lake Lavon should welcome this team sometime after lunch tomorrow. Will that be where we end up. Maybe. Then it will be time to visit my sister and get some help trying to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM
Do Texas state parks take the golden age passport?
ReplyDeleteNo. Tex State Parks only take their own daily pass card. New Mexico has their own really good deal. Louisiana takes the senior card at their state parks. Lots of different variations around the country.
ReplyDeleteWe are at Fontainbleau State Park,LA now. We knew LA took the card. Thanks for the info. Will have to do some checking out of TX parks. We plan to head into Tx next. We usually like the COE's. Merry Cristmas!
