Definitely not a day of too much fun. Notice came in today that the health insurance on me is going up a huge amount to almost $900 a month and that does not fit into my budget. So now the choice is between going back to work to get insurance or going without health insurance. This puts me in the same boat with a lot of folks in my age group. It is not a nice place to be. No matter what happens this has been a great year in my life. It would have been terrible to miss out on all the adventures.
The news had me down a bit, so off to visit Mac for an uplift. We had a bit over two hours of great conversation. Even if you do not care for a visit to the fort, a visit with Mac will certainly be worth your while. He always leaves me feeling excited to be alive.
The rest of the day was spent not spending money. A walk in the park and some clean up in the truck were the other big events in my life. Tomorrow starts a new month and a great opportunity to get out and have tooooo much fun. TheOFM
OFM!!!,$900.00 per month, WOW, there has to be something available cheaper? That is insane. I'm 37 and sure do not look forward to what my insurance might cost when I approach retirement. What should I expect to pay in 30 some odd years? $5000.00 a month? I would do a little research, medicare? Something? Hope things work out.
ReplyDelete3 more years before Medicare, which starts at 65. I will be checking everything I can. It is already great getting to take off a year and have adventures. Even if I go back to work, the adventures will continue if at a less frequent pace.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the cost but Good Sam apparently offers medical through some company and Escapees endorses a particular company. At least you might be getting group rates.
ReplyDeleteWhen I retire next year my group rate for two of us will be $500 + Medicare. 1 traditional plan plus "medigap" coverage for my wife.
Tom the Escapees is not a group plan. The broker approved by the escapees is who I went to first. They simply sell BCBS individual policies. BCBS turned me down because I did not need blood pressure medicine any more. Theda at Friesan Stain could not help past offering me her apologies for the action of BCBS.
