Gulf State Park

Gulf Shores, Alabama
After being a lazy bum this morning and then visiting with a neighbor that is brand new to RVing, I got out of Rainbow Plantation about 11:45 am. That neighbor had not done a lot of homework on fulltiming and was having some disappointments because of it. After about 2 hours of talk he seemed to see what his options were. When I left him he was going to go back inside and write up a new travel plan. He was a very nice fellow from Tennessee. The short drive to Gulf State Park went very well including one wrong turn and backtrack. The campground essentials are in good shape and functioning properly. The area around the campground is showing the effects of the hurricanes.

There is still a large amount of dead trees standing and laying around near the campground. The underbrush is coming back very well. The campground is very large. A bike ride along the main road only yielded a round trip of 5.75 miles. Since I have lived in the cold desert country for the last 5 years, my body was hot and sweating well in this 74 degree heat and high humidity. Along the way a person can see a lot of new construction going on on the beach area. It looks like build with no fear for hurricanes.

I have been in several hurricanes and never again will be too soon for me. If I ever move into a stix and bricks again, it will be way out of the way of hurricanes.

I heard from my son and plans for tomorrows GOBBLE UNTIL YOU WOBBLE festival is on track. There is a big rain storm coming through now and since I do not see as well as I used to at night, I decided to wait until tomorrow when conditions will be a lot better to drive the 30 minutes to see him.

Maybe tomorrow I can have toooooo much fun, TheOFM
