Summerdale, Alabama
A beautiful day it has been today. This morning started very gently and the whole day eased by very comfortably. Most of the day was spent conserving money and reading another book from the library. This one was not as good as yesterdays. Getting dark by 5:30 pm is still not a good thing to me. First thing this morning I realized I had been very negligent in my travel preparations. The trailer did not come with a lug wrench it seems, so I was running without the ability to change a flat. After checking my truck lug wrench to find it was way to big of a socket, I pulled out a deep socket set to find out what size the lug nuts are....13/16". So now I needed a proper lug wrench and groceries. In this little town Walmart has the best grocery by far and they carry lug wrenches. So off to the store I went. Turns out Walmart had several different types of lug wrenches. It was nice to have options. I really like options and choices. The grocery section in this store was laid out by a drunk monkey and does not seem to have rhyme or reason to it. So after several trips around in circles I had everything on my list and headed for the cash registers. After standing in line for about 8 minutes the floor manager jumped in to help check out folks. The last thing I handed him was the shiny lug wrench and said that they are a chore to cook, but are really healthy since they are loaded with iron. I thought he was going to laugh out of his shoes. On the way home I stopped to check a WinDixie store and they were considerably higher on the things I know the price of than the WalMart. So while I am down here I guess it is WalMart for me. Back in Richland Washington we had a grocery called Winco that put all the others to shame on cheaper pricing. One good thing in that area of Washington is all the produce grown in the area. For 5 years I got used to having "fresh roadkill" vegetables. The field trucks would lose some from the trucks and I was not bashful in stopping to pick up the onions, corn, potatoes and other freshly harvested vegetables. Since a major portion of the asparagus grown in the USA came from that area, we got very fresh asparagus that steamed to ultimate perfection.
It turned out to be a great day GOD gave me and I appreciated it to the fullest, The OFM
WinnDixie has some great prices compared to Wal*Mart. Take the time and fill out their application for their savings card. I have done that for all the major stores as we travel and it has saved us many $$$ for a few minutes of filling out the application. Well worth the effort.
